Political Speaking
So you want to speak for a political issue? That’s great. The most influential people in the world are in politics, and that fact is not changing any time soon. First however, you need to narrow down your topic.
You may be a Republican, or a Democrat, or a 3rd party. It doesn’t matter. Like all good politicians, you have to find a specific topic that interest you. What kind of topic? Turn on the news. There are tons of issues being discussed right now. If you need something more real, think about your own life. Do you have a problem that politics can fix? Most people do. The important part is how many people share your problem. Ask around. If you notice a lot of people have the same problem, then you have a sufficient base for a cause.
But what’s a cause without a solution? This will probably be the hardest part of your searching. If the problem doesn’t already have a solution, it may take a while to find one. If you think you have one, then go ahead. Share your solution with the world. That’s your topic.
Let’s go ahead with a historical example: Franklin D Roosevelt.
Roosevelt lived in a time when poverty had destroyed the country. People wanted quick relief, but Herbert Hoover (the previous president) believed in a slow acting “trickle down” system. Roosevelt saw the need for quick economic relief, and he ran his presidential campaign on that issue. As a result, he won the election. Roosevelt saw a problem, saw a solution, and had a winning issue that made him president.
